Decades Challenge

The NDP Decade Challenge

During the 41st Season of the New Depot Players, everyone is invited to help us celebrate our history of live theatre in Conyers by asking you to support our Decades Challenge.

If you have loved a particular show that we have presented over the last 40 years or if you have enjoyed being a part of a past production, we invite you to join the Decade Challenge!  We will be raising money throughout this season to help upgrade our technical needs, expand our youth programming, and, most of all, continue to provide quality theatre for future generations.  We encourage you to show your support and join one of our Decade Teams.  We want to have some fun with this fundraiser and are challenging the five teams to a contest to see which team can raise the most money by the end of the season.  Take a look at the team descriptions on the inside of this flyer and pick your favorite team.  The overall goal is to raise $25,000, but we also want to capture some great memories of our history in the process.  Please take the time to share some of your special memories of past performances or do a “shout out” for your favorite actor or actress. See donation form on the back of this flyer.
Periodic updates on each team’s progress will be posted on our Facebook page, in an email to our donors, and in our programs throughout the season.  The Challenge will begin on June 15, 2017, and conclude on May 31, 2018. Announcement of the winning team will be made at the last show of the 41st season (June 2018)

In 2001, the Depot players found a new home and a new name. All Because of Agatha premiered at the Black Box theatre in 2001, but it was all because of the Vaughn family who donated the building at 910 Center Street and remodeled it into a small black box theater to help support and grow the arts in the Conyers community. Shortly thereafter, the actors regrouped their organization under the name of The New Depot Players. The audience laughed in the trailer park and cried on golden pond—and we were all thankful for the comfort of real theater seats and a climate controlled venue! This sense of renewal also made us mindful of the hard work of those onstage and behind the scenes. In 2007, we held our first Awards Night to recognize the talent and hard work of our members…and appropriately named the event “The Wise Awards” after our founder, Linda Wise.

Here are a few shows you might remember: All Because of Agatha; A My Name is Alice; Steel Magnolias; Rumors; The Robber Bridegroom; Love Letters; Always Patsy Cline; Nunsense; Dearly Beloved; Boys Next Door; Crimes of the Heart; Working; Curious Savage; Murder is a Game; You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown; Daddy’s Dying and Who’s Got the Will; On Golden Pond; Great American Trailer Park Musical; and Dixie Swim Club.
